Bridge Study

YEC was retained by the local power company to evaluate thirteen bridges in order to ascertain whether they would be able to sustain loading from a mobile power generating unit, which had axle loadings greater than normal highway loadings. Scope of services included in-situ evaluations and measurements, computer modeling, computer analysis, and hand computations.

Industrial Facility

As civil and structural engineering consultant for the Belize Co-Generation Project, YEC and its affiliates performed a geotechnical study and made foundation recommendations, performed design reviews on foundation and structural designs, and assisted in solving issues related to civil and structural engineering during construction.

YEC was retained by the Belize Sugar Industries Limited to perform structural design for its new Shredder, Feed Drum and Crane Installation. YEC also provided Hold-Point Inspections.

Condominium Complex

YEC provided architectural and structural design for four different condominium / timeshare buildings situated in North Ambergris Caye. Three of the buildings were 4-story while one was 3-story. All four included large balconies and concrete roofs, and were designed to consider a 150 mph wind load. YEC also assisted with project supervision.

Farm Roads Upgrade

In order to improve the lives and productivity of farmers in Cayo district of Belize, the Caribbean Development Bank and the Basic Needs Trust Fund are seeking to upgrade 6 miles of trails and rudimentary farm roads. YEC prepared detailed engineering plans and specifications including horizontal and vertical alignment, drainage, and cross section designs. YEC managed the contractor selection process and is currently supervising the works.

Belize Radar Project

YEC prepared architectural and engineering plans, specifications, estimates and schedules for the works associated with a new Radar System at Belize’s International Airport. YEC also provided full construction supervision services for the project. Works included a paved access road, standby generator building, radar tower foundation, electrical supply and grounding systems, and a control centre building on the second floor of the Airport Terminal Building.

Drainage System

YEC provided the Caribbean Development Bank and the Social Investment Fund with engineering services for the design of drainage improvements to Lord’s Bank Village in the Belize District. Some 7,000 linear feet of trapezoidal drains were designed and constructed, including driveway and walk way crossings and outlets. YEC’s services included engineering design, preparation of construction and bid documents, evaluation of bids, and management of the construction.

Water Projects

The Caribbean Development Bank and the Basic Needs Trust Fund has funded a number of water projects throughout Belize. YEC has served as Civil Engineering Consultant for a large number of these projects, which typically include design and construction of elevated concrete water tanks along with the associated piping networks.

YEC has provided services ranging from project planning and engineering and architectural (along with our affiliate architects) to preparation of detailed construction plans, estimating, tendering, and construction monitoring for a wide variety of buildings both currently under construction and currently in use.
